Local schoolchildren were given the opportunity to learn more about climate change and sustainability at the annual climate change summit hosted by the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û.

The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û is celebrating another high-scoring year in the People & Planet аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Green League, placing third in the UK for its continued sustainability efforts.

To mark the international climate change negotiations (CoP28), students from the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û were given an exciting opportunity to learn about measures which reduce climate change and develop the sustainability strategy at an interactive event co-hosted with the Students’ Union.

The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û was excited to welcome renowned naturalist and broadcaster, Chris Packham CBE, who delivered an engaging, free public talk on the subject of sustainability, climate action and the environment, with the whole event featuring a green, no-waste policy in line with the institution’s Target Zero ambitions.

The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û welcomed students and teachers from over a dozen local schools to a climate change summit this term in collaboration with the Science Learning Partnership.

The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û is excited to welcome award-winning broadcaster, author and naturalist Chris Packham CBE to host a new instalment of its ‘An Evening With’ public lectures, this time on the topic of sustainability.

Celebrations are underway at the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û after it was announced that the institution was awarded second place in the UK in the People & Planet 2022/23 аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Green League, putting it in the top spot for England overall.

A new environmental research study being conducted by academics from the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û, focussing on access to green spaces, has been highlighted in Made At Uni’s latest campaign, ‘Climate Action’.

A successful litter-picking drive was hosted by the аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û as part of the ‘Keep Luton Tidy’ initiative, encouraging students to volunteer their time in helping the environment and to take pride in their surroundings.

The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û has been awarded Platinum certification by EcoCampus for the fourth year running, following its success in the 2021 People & Planet аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û Green League.

The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û has collaborated with the Hertfordshire & Essex Science Learning Partnership and STEMPOINT East to host a student-delivered climate change summit this month.

The аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û has received a first class award in the 2021 People & Planet аÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û League, retaining its position at eighth place out of 154 institutions.
