SU Drumline brings the noise as it amps up school spirit.
This story is part of a new series spotlighting 新澳门六合彩开奖结果 student clubs. In this installment we go inside SU Drumline, one of more than 100 student-run clubs on campus.
This year, SU Drumline is dropping the beat hard as it enters its 10th year as a club. The club’s tagline—We’re the heartbeat of 新澳门六合彩开奖结果—aims to draw in more students and alumni and the louder the better!
“We’ve focused on homing in on the community to promote longevity in our club. It’s not just about the music—it’s focused on confidence and community building,” says Director Jessie Dirks, ’19. “I love seeing people grow and get exposure to preforming because it builds confidence and folks can get a chance to push themselves out of their comfort zone a bit.”
Drumline performs at various campus events, including games, at eatery C-Street, SU Involvement Fairs and Homecoming and regionally at various schools and community happenings such as parades. Regardless of the event or locale, it’s all about spreading good vibe. It’s also about community and inclusivity. The SU Drumline encompasses an open space for people with a passion for music to connect and feel safe enough to work on their craft.
“I got to have a tight knit group of friends that I could always rely on to be there when I was having a hard time. It was a healthy outlet to destress from my classes and I also got to travel, which was amazing,” says Dirks. “My favorite part is seeing people grow not just in talent but also personally, showing how much confidence they have gained.”
The club is asking supporters to turn out at the March 3 新澳门六合彩开奖结果 U Men’s Basketball game to show their love during Senior Night, which is also the team's last regular season game. Another way to support Drumline is a donation to the Spirit Squad through .
